The First 16 Donors

Idaho Gives taught us something special.

There is something quietly terrifying about building something from the ground up.

Not the dramatic kind of terrifying. Not movie-scene chaos. More like sitting at a table surrounded by notes, forms, budgets, unanswered questions, and impossible hope while wondering if anyone else can see the shape of the thing you’re trying to build.

Last week, during Idaho Gives, 16 people did.

Because of those 16 donors, Copper Quill Haven raised $883 toward our mission of increasing access to veterinary care and preventative services in our community.

To some organizations, $883 may not sound like much.

To us, it feels like proof of life.

Copper Quill Haven is still in its earliest stages. Right now, we are building systems, developing partnerships, navigating licensing, planning operations, and laying the foundation for services we believe our community genuinely needs. Like many new nonprofits, a great deal of our work currently happens behind spreadsheets, phone calls, intake drafts, policy discussions, and late-night planning sessions.

But this campaign reminded us that people are paying attention.

People care about accessible veterinary care.
People care about prevention.
People care about reducing suffering before it becomes crisis.
People care about keeping families and animals together.

Most importantly, people are willing to believe in small beginnings.

Over the next several months, we’ll continue working toward building a sustainable, community-focused organization centered on compassionate, practical animal welfare solutions. That includes continued partnership development, operational planning, volunteer infrastructure, fundraising, and preparing for future services focused on spay/neuter and preventative care access.

To everyone who donated, shared our campaign, encouraged us, or simply followed along while we begin building this organization: thank you.

Early support matters more than most people realize.

It creates momentum.
It creates legitimacy.
It creates the feeling that maybe this ambitious little blueprint can become something real.

And for that, we are deeply grateful.

This is only the beginning.
